Young People at Pegasos: Learning Through Responsibility and Work with Horses

With the support of the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, Equestrian Club Pegasos is implementing the project “Small Actions, Big Changes”, through which young people have the opportunity to become part of the daily life of the center and gain experience that goes far beyond traditional volunteering.

Learning through real work

At Pegasos, volunteers do not observe, they participate.

Through working with horses, as well as assisting in therapeutic riding and activities with children, they develop skills that are valuable far beyond equestrian sport. They learn responsibility, discipline, communication, and teamwork, but also something even more important, focus, patience, and the ability to handle real-life situations.

Working with horses requires presence and calmness, as horses respond directly to human behavior. For this reason, the program has a strong impact on the personal development of young people.

Therapeutic riding as an experience

An important part of the program is the involvement of volunteers in therapeutic riding activities. Through this experience, young people learn how to assist instructors and support children during sessions. In the process, they develop empathy, responsibility, and awareness in working with others, becoming an important part of the team.

A space for growth

This program is not a one-time experience, but a process. Young people who show interest and commitment often continue their journey within the center, becoming more involved in different programs or taking on greater responsibilities within the team.

Community support

The implementation of this project is made possible with the support of the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, which, through the program “Small Actions, Big Changes”, recognizes the importance of creating opportunities for young people to learn, grow, and actively participate in their community.
